Beca Creación Literaria

(Literary Creation Grant)

I have the privilege of being able to write without having to worry about paying my rent, and I wanted to share that luck with young Spanish-speaking writers. This is why I set up the Beca de Creación Literaria (Literary Creation Grant) whose winners were able to dedicate one full year to working on a novel whilst being enrolled in the master’s programme of Creative Writing at the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.

The resulting books published by Editorial Candaya, and the Han Nefkens Foundation purchased 500 copies that we distributed among libraries in Spain and Latin America. Winners of the first three grants have been Eduardo Ruiz Sosa whose novel Anatomía de la memoria was widely critically acclaimed. Equally successful were Matías Candeira’s book Fiebre and Cristina Morales’ Terroristas Modernos
