Presented as part of the Han Nefkens Foundation – South Asian Video Art Production Grant 2023 in collaboration with Prameya Art Foundation (New Delhi), and in partnership with Ishara Art Foundation (Dubai), Nottingham Contemporary, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT), Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (M HKA), and Para Site (Hong Kong).
Recipient of the inaugural grant, Shahana Rajani presents Lines that World a River (2026)—an expanded iteration of Four Acts of Recovery (2025). This three-channel film focuses on the Indus River as a site of extraction and contested memory, tracing displaced delta communities who use murals and paintings to reconstruct ancestral villages submerged by hydraulic dams and barrages.
The exhibition, which also features works by Rohini Devasher and Sarker Protick, examines how land, water, and the cosmos serve as living archives of memory, challenging human-centred views of the Anthropocene.
