Mònica Planes: "the space of the nothing"
This exhibition is a result of the collaboration between the Fundació Han Nefkens, the Fundació Suñol and the MA on Artistic Production and Creation of the Universitat de Barcelona. Mònica Planes (1992) is the winner of the 2016 Han Nefkens – UB Postgraduates’ scholarship. The prize consists on exhibiting the award-winning project at the Nivell Zero. Her work studies a new form of relation between humans and our daily life spaces through new liberated and pure frameworks that distinguish from those predetermined structures that condition our habitat. She (re)constructs the environment while crossing it, summarizing it and materializing it through basic constructive pieces to reintegrate it later by playing. Therefore, her work is an appropriation of the environment based on playing with the landscape and the specific elements that conform and crystalize the process of furnishing that the artist calls “the space of the nothing”, a subjective space that defies the daily life space.
