RAMIN HAERIZADEH, ROKNI HAERIZADEH AND HESAM RAHMANIAN. WINNERS OF HAN NEFKENS / MACBA AWARD - MACBA, BARCELONA
HILDE TEERLINCK , THE PRESIDENT OF THE HNF IS VISITING, RAMIN AND ROKNI HAERIZADEH AND HESAM RAHMANIAN, WINNERS OF THE HAN NEFKENS FOUNDATION MACBA AWARD AT HIS HOME IN DUBAI, WHERE SHE WAS RECEIVED WITH A WARM IRANIAN HOSPITALITY.
The jury for the second edition of the Han Nefkens / MACBA Award met on Tuesday 21 April 2015 at MACBA, in Barcelona, to discuss the projects presented by the selected international artists.
The jury was made up of five judges: Hanru Hou, artistic director of MAXXI, Museo nazionale delle Arti del XXI secolo, Rome; Beatrix Ruf, director of the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Kaelen Wilson-Goldie, writer and art critic, Beirut; Han Nefkens, collector, writer and founder of the Han Nefkens Foundation; and Bartomeu Marí, director of MACBA.
Also present were Hiuwai Chu, assistant curator at MACBA, and Hilde Teerlinck, president of the Han Nefkens Foundation.
All the judges stressed the high quality of the submissions. The award aims to honour an artist who has won international recognition but has not yet had a solo show at a major world museum such as MNCARS, TATE, MoMA, MACBA, CENTRE GEORGES POMPIDOU, NEUE NATIONALGALERIE, ARC or PALAIS DE TOKYO, among others.
The jury’s decision was made public at MACBA on 20 May 2015, coinciding with the opening of the show by Iman Issa, winner of the first Han Nefkens / MACBA Award.
Now in its second edition, the Award has become internationally renowned as a leading event on the Barcelona art scene. In the words of Han Nefkens: “At an exhibition opening I’m delighted to see people from different parts of the world meeting each other and having a good time. I’m eager to use art to spark dialogues and encourage people to share their experiences of knowledge and creativity.”
